The publication was produced within the framework of the project “Equal Access of IDPs to Economic Opportunities in Georgia”, implemented in 2016-2017 by UN Women and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and generously funded by the European Union.

Citizen Satisfaction with Public Services in Georgia. 2015

The comprehensive nation-wide research analyses citizen satisfaction with local public services in Georgia. It focuses on a range of issues, including for the quality of roads, public kindergartens, cleaning service and citizen engagement in decision-making.

The research examines public views about the services provided by the local municipalities and central government, provides comparative analysis with the similar study conducted in 2013, and includes recommendations for local authorities based on the perceptions and expectations of citizens.

The research was commissioned by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Swiss Cooperation Office (SCO) for the South Caucasus and Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and carried out by the Georgian research company ACT in November 2015.

Perception of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence in Tbilisi, Kakheti and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti

The goal of the study was to identify attitude of population of Georgia, in particular, people living in Tbilisi, Kakheti and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti towards violence against women and girls, as well as domestic violence, and to assess the level of awareness of victims of violence regarding existing services.

The study has been commissioned by UN Women, under the UN joint program To Enhance Gender Equality in Georgia, with the financial support of the Government of Sweden. The study has been conducted by local research organization Institute of Policy Studies. The results of the study will inform the process of planning awareness building campaign on violence against women and promotion of services provided by relevant state and non-governmental organizations to the victims of violence.

Needs and Priorities of IDP and Conflict-Affected Women and Girls

The study aimed at assessing the situation and needs of IDP and conflict-affected women and girls, with a focus on single, elderly and disabled women, as well as female-headed households. Association of Women and Mothers of Disabled Children DEA in partnership with the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) conducted the study. The study was carried out in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and Shida Kartli regions in September-August, 2013.

To meet with the aims of the study, local and IDP women living in collective centers and private dwellings, including persons with disabilities and their caregivers, single, elderly women and heads of households and men, were surveyed in Samegrelo and Shida Kartli. The results of the study revealed the differences between the needs of the local population and IDPs from Abkhazia and South Ossetia, as well as between women and men.

Women’s Rights Evidence-based Advocacy Manual

The manual has been developed under the UN Women project “Innovative Action for Gender Equality in Georgia” (IAGE) funded by the EU. The objective of the project is to adopt and implement relevant policies and legislation to address specific healthcare, social and economic needs of women from excluded groups in Georgia. The specific objective is to support women’s initiatives aimed at confidence building and social stability through addressing healthcare, social and economic needs of women who are national minorities, imprisoned, IDPs and/or conflict-affected and also women living in remote mountainous areas in Georgia.

One of the expected outcomes of the project is the empowerment of gender equality advocates and women’s rights activists in order to advocate for integration of the needs of vulnerable groups of women and girls into relevant policies and legislation.
